Top Student 2013
Nadine’s had a difficult family life where finances were tight and opportunities were few. Due to financial difficulty and needing to work to earn money for the family, Nadine missed out of School for 2 years, but returned and matriculated at 19. With her passion for cooking and the chance extended to her by the Ikusasa program, not only did she excel, but was the schools top graduating student of 2013. She is currently carrying out a further traineeship at the Oyster Box Hotel.
2012 Student of the Year
Thembelihle joined Ikusaa in 2012 and graduated at the top of her class. Currently she is carrying out her 3 year traineeship Bursary from the IHS at the Quarters Hotel in Durban. From very humble beginnings, Thembelihle is an inspiration to others. Thembelihle plans to finish her studies and one day become a culinary lecturer and give back to young people who she hopes to benefit as she has benefited in her life.
Top Student 2011
Coming from a single-parent household, Nokuphiwa had grown up with a love of cooking and adrea to one day become a chef. Her mother unfortiantely was not able to afford to send her to a regualr Cooking school. When Nokhupiwa found out about the Iksuasa School of Cooking, her hopes were renewed and she grabbed the opportunity and made it at the Schools top Student of 2011 and carried out a 2 year traineeship at the Oyster Box Hotel.
2010 Student of the Year
Tanya rose to become the Schools first top student, of the Class of 2010. She is completing her 3 year traineeship bursary at the Oyster Box Hotel Umhlanga and is working towards building a name for herself in the Industry. With both parents deceased and no one to support her dreams, Ikusasa was the stepping stone she needed to pursue her dream of becoming a chef.
